Visual Arts Safety

The visual arts can pose significant risks to the health and safety of artists.  This guide provides an overview of some of the most common risks associated with ceramics, painting, drawing, photography, lithography and sculpture.  It is the Laboratory Supervisor who is responsible for ensuring that students are trained in the potential health and physical hazards of the chemicals and equipment used in the studio as well as ensuring that all students work safely and wear the appropriate Personal Protective Equipment for the tasks that they are completing.
